Already considered as the world's most polluted city, Delhi's air quality has now crossed the permissible limit.
With government taking extreme measures to control it, here are some few tips to keep you protected in this environment
The first line of defense in reducing the infections is to limit exposure to pollution. Install air filtration system at home and at work to help protect against various diseases caused by air pollution.
Make sure that children wear anti-pollution masks while going outdoors.
Eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables and a diet rich in vitamin C, which can reduce the effects of air pollution. Drinking plenty of water will also protect you from the poisonous air.
Avoid moving out in peak traffic hours wherein pollution levels are high and air quality is at dangerous levels.
Choose air friendly products. Many products you use in your home, in the yard, or at the office are made with smog-forming chemicals that escape into the air. For eg. use a push or electric lawn mower, use a propane or natural gas barbecue.
Have your gas appliances and heater regularly inspected and maintained.
Get your cars regularly checked for PUC certification.
Be responsible in controlling pollution. It is always best to walk instead of driving for a short distance. If you are standing in a traffic jam please turn off the car engine to prevent air pollution.
